The deceased was identified as Md Kajol, 48, a resident of city’s Pahartali area.

Miscreants shot Abdur Rahman, 50, driver of a cattle-laden truck, to death for looting sacrificial animals at Bayezid-Faujdarhat Link Road under the Sitakunda upazila on July 16.

Sensing presence of the elite crime busters, the criminals opened fire prompting them to retaliate with bullets.

At one stage, the criminals fled the scene while the bullet-hit body of Kajol was found lying on the spot, he said.

Two light guns, a foreign pistol, 15 rounds of cartridge, two rounds of bullet and some sharp weapons were also recovered from the spot after the gunfight, said the AD.
