38 held in anti-drug drive

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested 38 people in an anti-drug operation in the city on charges of selling and consuming drugs.

Police arrested them during a raid in the city’s different areas from 6am on Thursday to 6am on Friday. Iftekhairul Islam, additional deputy commissioner (ADC) of the DMP’s Media and Public Relations Department, confirmed the matter.

He said 50,059 pieces of yaba, four kilograms and 600 grams of cannabis, 223 grams of heroin, five liters of local liquor and eight injections were seized from their possession.

ADC Iftekhairul also said that 30 cases have been filed against the detainees under the Narcotics Control Act.
