RANGPUR: The corona related casualties crossed the 1,000 mark this morning in Rangpur division where the coronavirus situation continues deteriorating almost during the last two months.
Health officials said the total number of casualties rose to 1,004 in its all eight districts as eight more infected patients died during the last 24 hours ending at 8:00 am on Friday.
The district-wise break-up of the total 1,004 fatalities now stands at 226 in Rangpur, 63 in Panchagarh, 71 in Nilphamari, 57 in Lalmonirhat, 56 in Kurigram, 194 in Thakurgaon, 286 in Dinajpur and 51 in Gaibandha districts. “The average casualty rate currently stands at 2.11 percent in the division,” Dr Siddiqui said.
Meanwhile, the number of corona cases rapidly climbed to 47,519 as 531 new patients were diagnosed after testing 2,143 samples in the division at the positivity rate of 24.78 percent on Thursday.
Earlier, the daily positivity rates were 30.44 percent on Wednesday, 32.07 percent on Tuesday, 28.65 percent on Monday, 29.75 percent on Sunday and 30.31 percent on Saturday last in the division. The district-wise break-up of 47,519 infected patients now stands at 10,629 in Rangpur, 3,020 in Panchagarh, 3,878 in Nilphamari, 2,367 in Lalmonirhat, 3,920 in Kurigram, 6,440 in Thakurgaon, 13,190 in Dinajpur and 4,075 in Gaibandha of the division.
Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Motaharul Islam said a total of 2,26,076 collected samples were tested till Thursday, and of them, 47,519 were found corona positive with an average positivity rate of 21.02 percent in the division.
In the meantime, the total number of healed patients reached 37,040 with recovery of 534 more infected patients on Thursday in the division where the average recovery rate currently stands at 77.95 percent.
Among the 47,519 patients, 595 are undergoing treatments at isolation units, including 24 critical patients at ICU beds and 11 at High Dependency Unit beds, after recovery of 37,040 patients and 1,004 deaths while 9,290 are remaining in home isolation.
“Meanwhile, the number of citizens who got the first dose of the corona vaccine rose to 10,16,727 and among them, 3,96,753 got the second dose of the jab till Thursday in the division,” Dr Islam added.
Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu expressed concern over the deteriorating corona situation in Rangpur division.
He called upon common people to abide by the health directives, hygiene rules and wear masks to remain safe and keep others safe as the corona positivity rate continues rising in the division.
