Bangladesh missions abroad on Thursday observed the 72nd birth anniversary of valiant freedom fighter Shaheed Captain Sheikh Kamal, eldest son of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, with due solemnity and fervor.

Bangladesh missions, including New Delhi, Beijing, Seoul, Tokyo, London, Washington DC, Colombo, Doha, Athens, Madrid, Riyadh, Tashkent, Ankara, Deputy High Commission in Mumbai, Consulate General of Bangladesh in Kunming, arranged various programmes marking the day.

Bangladesh High Commissioner in New Delhi Muhammad Imran along with officers and staff of the mission paid homage to Captain Sheikh Kamal by placing wreaths at his portrait at Bangabandhu corner at the Chancery building on the occasion of his 72nd birth anniversary.

The High Commissioner later presided over a discussion on the life and work of Sheikh Kamal.

In a discussion at the Bangladesh Embassy in South Korea, Ambassador Abida Islam paid the highest tribute to the memory of Shaheed Sheikh Kamal. She said that the life and works of Shaheed Captain Sheikh Kamal will remain a source of inspiration for the people of Bangladesh particularly for the young generation.
