Bangladesh Bank has asked all scheduled banks to accelerate operation of special Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes to reach food grains and health equipments among the ultra poor.
The central bank also extended the deadline of distributing specific amount of money under CSR activities by September 30, 2021.
The central bank on Wednesday issued a circular in this connection asking the banks to submit the first implementation report of special CSR activities completed on July 30 to the central bank’s sustainable finance department by August 10. The circular also stated that the other fortnightly report (15th and 30th day of every month) has to be sent to sustainable finance department of Bangladesh Bank after completing three working days.
Reviewing the special CSR activities up to July 14, the central bank is not satisfying the CSR activities implemented by Deputy Commissioners, Sena Kalyan Sangstha, NGOs and Micro Finance Institutes (MFIs).
