Bangladesh Bank Governor Fazle Kabir said on Tuesday certified expert bankers are crucial to present day’s dynamic banking and can play a key role in overcoming corana like crisis.
A bunch of expert bankers can ensure a bright future for the country through accomplishing a smooth and well-functioning financial system, he added.
He was speaking at a certificate giving ceremony of Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management (BIBM) as the chief guest, says a release.
It was is the third graduation ceremony of BIBM for the Certified Expert Bankers of three programmes.
A total of 260 graduates were awarded certificates at the event held virtually.
Md Ataur Rahman Prodhan, CEO & Managing Director of Sonali Bank Ltd delivered the ceremonial Lecture.
The event was chaired by Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman, Director General of BIBM. Mohammad Sohail Mostafa, Director (Training and Certification Programme) delivered inaugural speech. Dr. Barkat-e-Khuda, Dr. Muzzafer Ahmed Professor at BIBM & Former Professor of Dhaka University spoke at the event.
“I strongly believe that such programme will be more effective, fruitful as well as acquaint local bankers with the contemporary global banking system apart from enhancing their professionalism,” he noted.
Over the years, BIBM has helped hundreds of thousands of practitioners, as well as graduates eager to join the industry, to acquire essential banking skills and to stay tuned with the latest knowledge of the industry, BIBM trainers said.
BIBM Director General Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman said that the certification courses are helping reduce various types of risks in the banking sector.
This will help Bangladesh achieve higher growth and strengthening its position in the global financial arena, he added.
Mohammad Sohail Mostafa, Director (Training and Certification Program) of BIBM, also spoke on the occasion.
Since inception of certification programmes in 2015, 606 banking professionals have so far completed these training programmes.
