‘Killers’ of B’baria imam held

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police nabbed three alleged killers of an imam of Brahmanbaria from Tejgaon and Khilgaon in the capital on Sunday.

Two of them are victim’s younger brothers Shahed Mia, 50, and Abdullah, 40, while the other one is Junaid Mia, 20, son of Shahed.

Mukta Dhor, special superintendent of police at the CID, disclosed the information to reporters at the CID headquarters in the capital on Monday.

Victim Abdur Rahim, 60, an imam of Fediarkandi Mosque under Nasirnagar Upazila in Brahmanbaria.

According to the officer, the two younger brothers with their family members came to visit their house at Dhamaura Village from Dhaka to celebrate the Eid-ul-Azha on that day.

When Rahim was repairing the basement of his house, he was locked in argument over it with his younger brothers.

At one stage, Shahed, Abdullah and Ratna, wife of Abdullah, ‘killed’ him with spears at about 12:00 midnight and fled the scene.
