Perpetrators are still active, says Quader

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Sunday said perpetrators of August 15 carnage and August 21 grenade attacks are still active.

“Perpetrators of August 15 carnage and August 21 grenade attacks are still active as they do not want development, peace and comfort in the country,” he said.

Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, said this at a virtual press briefing from his official residence on parliament premises in the capital.

The minister said those conspirators feel jealous of country’s march forward towards prosperity under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as they want to see Bangladesh a conflict-ridden bloody land. “They (perpetrators) did not stop their conspiracy by launching August 15 carnage rather they had killed four national leaders inside the safe custody of Dhaka Central Jail on November 3 in 1975,” he said.

Quader said August 21 grenade attacks were also carried out on AL peace rally in 2004 in continuation of the same conspiracy.

“Bangabandhu was the prime target of August 15 carnage while Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina was the prime target of August 21 grenade attacks,” he said.

He said those, who perpetrated the August 15 carnage, had to suffer unnatural deaths as the history did not forgive anyone and it does not do that. The trials of those, who had staged the brutal August carnage and who were beneficiaries, have been completed in the court, he said.

He said the November 3 jail killing was actually carried out to make the nation and the AL leaderless.

August 15 carnage, November 3 jail killing and August 21 grenade attacks were launched in continuation of the same conspiracy, he said.

The AL general secretary urged the people and the party leaders and workers to turn the grief of August into strength.

“If we can stand beside the distressed and destitute people during the coronavirus crisis, it will be paying of our proper tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his soul will also get peace at this work,” he said.
