Social worker Nurjahan dies of Covid-19

Nurjahan Mojhar, a noted social worker and wife of former Rajshahi University Vice-Chancellor and Bangla Academy Director General Professor Dr Mojharul Islam, passed away while undergoing treatment for coronavirus in a city hospital on Saturday morning. She was 92.

She breathed her last at 6:15 am in Green Life Hospital. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of Nurjahan.

In a message of condolence, she prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and extended sympathy to the bereaved family members.

Nurjahan Mojhar was the mother of former Member of Parliament of Sirajganj and the convener of the Seventh Congress of Juba League Chayan Islam, industrialist Shovon Islam and member of Bangladesh Awami League’s central executive committee Professor Merina Jahan Kabita.

She was suffering from different old-age complications and was admitted to the hospital where she was diagnosed with Covid-19.

Nurjahan Mojhar was laid to rest beside her husband’s grave at her family graveyard in Sirajganj’s Shahjadpur following several namaz-e-janazas after Asr prayer.
