Bhuapur Upazila Parishad chairman dies of Covid-19

Abdul Halim, a valiant freedom fighter and chairman of Tangail’s Bhuapur Upazila Parishad, passed away while undergoing treatment for coronavirus at a hospital in the capital on Friday. He was 65.

He breathed his last at 10:15am at Bangladesh Specialized Hospital in Shyamoli on the day.

Abdul Halim left behind his wife, a son, a daughter, and a host of relatives and well wishers to mourn his death.

He was laid to rest with state honour at his family graveyard at Shabalkura village in Gobindasi union following his namaz-e-janaza held at Bhuapur Pilot High School ground after Asr prayer.

Abdul Halim was a two-time chairman of the Upazila Parishad. He was the president of Bhuapur Upazila Awami League for a long time.

He was also the former president of the District Bar Association and vice-president of the district Awami League.
