Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni said the country’s educational institution will be reopened shortly after completion of the students’ vaccination against the Covid-19.

“The government has taken steps to provide vaccine to the students to protect them from the coronavirus and the educational institution will be reopened shortly once the vaccination is complete,” she said.

She said that the online education is going on despite closure of the educational institutions and they are also working to further improve the online education system in the future.

Dipu Moni came up with the remarks while addressing a webinar organized by the Jagannath University (JnU) Chemistry department marking the Mujib Borsho on Tuesday night.

“We had started broadcasting classes through television just after 12 days of the closure of educational institution. There is no chance of denying online education.”

Mentioning that importance should also be given to online learning activities alongside the classroom teaching, she said.

She said technical schools are being set up in every upazila. Efforts are being made to use the degree certificates issued by them at the equivalent institutions.

“We are also stressing on the expansion of ICT skills, language education, science education while the foreign languages have now become major tools. So the communication skills, collaboration skills, critical thinking skills need to be achieved,” she added.

JnU Chemistry department Chairman Prof Shamsun Nahar, Jagangirnagar University former Vice-Chancellor Sharif Enamul Kabir and JnU Histry department teacher Prof Mohammad Salim also spoke among others at the webinar.
