66 journalists get PM’s financial support in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI: A number of 66 more journalists have received the Prime Minister’s financial assistance at a ceremony in Rajshahi on Wednesday to cope with the adverse impact of the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Bangladesh Journalists Welfare Trust (BJWT) organised the cheque distribution ceremony at the conference hall of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Office.

Each of the journalists was given Taka 10,000.

DC Abdul Jalil and Additional Deputy Commissioner Shariful Haque addressed the function as the chief and special guests respectively with President of Rajshahi Union of Journalists (RUJ) Rafiqul Islam in the chair.

Speaking on the occasion, DC Abdul Jalil said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is media-friendly and she has brought most of the professional bodies including journalists under financial support as part of her relentless efforts to deal with the pandemic situation.

He also said development programmes have become visible throughout the country and urged the journalists to highlight the development successes of the government through their objective reporting.

Besides, he said this financial assistance will contribute a lot towards enhancing the level of confidence of the working journalists as the Prime Minister by herself stands beside the journalists with helping hand.
