RANGPUR: The total number of corona positive cases rapidly climbed to 41,581 with diagnosis of 837 fresh cases on Monday in all eight districts of Rangpur division.
Health officials said 12 more patients died during the last 24 hours in the division where the overall corona situation and positivity and causality rates are mostly showing a rising trend in recent weeks.
Earlier, the daily positivity rates were 27.36 percent on Sunday, 27.38 percent on Saturday, 25.27 percent on Friday, 38.40 percent on Thursday and 23.27 percent on Wednesday last in the division, reports BSS.
The district-wise break up of total 41,581 patients now stands at 9,093 in Rangpur, 2,435 in Panchagarh, 3,304 in Nilphamari, 2,117 in Lalmonirhat, 3,175 in Kurigram, 5,739 in Thakurgaon, 12,197 in Dinajpur and 3,521 in Gaibandha of the division.
“A total of 2,04,954 collected samples were tested till Monday, and of them, 41,581 were found corona positive with an average positivity rate of 20.29 percent in the division,” Siddiqui added.
Talking to the agency on Tuesday, Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Motaharul Islam said the number of casualties reached 866 as 12 more deaths were reported from seven districts out of eight in the division during the last 24 hours ending at 8:00 am on Tuesday.
The district-wise break up of the 866 fatalities stands at 187 in Rangpur, 54 in Panchagarh, 64 in Nilphamari, 52 in Lalmonirhat, 47 in Kurigram, 165 in Thakurgaon, 260 in Dinajpur and 40 in Gaibandha districts of the division.
Meanwhile, the total number of healed corona patients reached 31,448 with recovery of 678 more infected patients on Monday in the division where the average recovery rate currently stands at 75.63 percent.
The 31,448 recovered patients include 6,240 of Rangpur, 1,428 of Panchagarh, 2,696 of Nilphamari, 1,637 of Lalmonirhat, 2,182 of Kurigram, 4,170 of Thakurgaon, 10,649 of Dinajpur and 2,446 of Gaibandha districts in the division.
Among the 41,581 infected patients, 531 are undergoing treatments at isolation units, including 24 critical patients at ICU beds and 11 at High Dependency Unit beds, after recovery of 31,448 patients and 866 deaths while 9,113 are remaining in home isolation.
“Meanwhile, the number of citizens who got the first dose of the corona vaccine rose to 7,92,120, and among them, 3,90,173 got the second dose of the jab till Monday in the division,” Dr Islam added.
Talking to the agency, Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu urged all strictly abide by the health directives to remain safe and keep others safe.
