Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said the government will launch a mass vaccination campaign at union level on August 7.

“Anyone can receive vaccine from the vaccination centre of their own union from August 7 if they show their national identity card,” he said.

The minister disclosed the information at a briefing at the Secretariat after a meeting with the government high-ups concerned.

About the demand for reopening mills and factories, he said it is not possible before August 5, the last day of the government-declared 14-day nationwide strict lockdown. "The ongoing lockdown will continue until August 5. Industrialists have requested us to allow them to reopen factories. But we can’t agree to their requests at this moment."

The meeting which was presided over by the home minister was also attended by Health Minister Zahid Maleque, Cabinet Secretary Khandokar Anwarul Islam, secretaries of the ministries concerned and high-ranking officials of army, navy, air and police.
