A devastating fire broke out at Gafur Tower on Topkhana Road near the National Press Club in the capital on Monday.      

After receiving the information about the incident, firefighters rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control. No casualty was reported in the fire.

Arshad Hossain, duty officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence control room, told the reporter that the fire originated on the fifth floor of the tower no 17/2 around 6:08pm.  

A total of 11 units of firefighters were dispatched to the spot, but all the units didn’t need to work as some of the units could bring the fire under control around 6:48pm. 

The duty officer said no casualty occurred in the incident. The reason behind the fire could not be known immediately, he said.
