Home Ministry cancels posting of 38 SPs to RAB

Popular News

Home Ministry has cancelled posting of 38 superintendents of police (SPs) to Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and attached them to police headquarters.

A circular signed by Deputy Secretary (Police-1) of Public Security Division of the ministry Dhananjoy Kumar Das was issued in this regard on Sunday.

On May 16, the ministry transferred 48 SPs to the RAB force as deputy directors (DDs) though the force had only nine vacant DD posts for the police members.

A complexity was created over the huge number of SPs’ posting to the elite force as RAB is comprised of the officers from armed forces, police, BGB, Ansar and the public administration. On June 17, the Prime Minister’s Office sent a letter to senior secretary of the Home Ministry asking him to move them to RAB as per existing quota system, said sources.

As per the PMO’s letter, the ministry decided to shift the 38 SPs to police headquarters from the RAB.
