Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has advised maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra to hoist local cautionary signal No. 3 as a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal may contribute to an increase in rainfall in the coming days.
Under its influence deep convection is taking place and steep pressure gradient lies over North Bay and adjoining areas. Squally weather may affect the maritime ports, North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh.
Different parts of the country are experiencing thundershowers due to the low. Monsoon is active over Southern part and fairly active elsewhere over the country and strong over North Bay. Nazmul Haque, a meteorologist of BMD, said rain may increase in the next two days. All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to come close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice.
