The number of dengue patients keeps rising throughout the country at an alarming rate, as 1,098 dengue patients were admitted to different hospitals all over the country until Friday morning this month.
But the figure was only 272 in June, 43 in May, three in April, 13 in March, nine in February and 32 in January, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
A total of 387 patients diagnosed with dengue are now receiving treatment in 41 government and private hospitals in Dhaka while three outside the city, said DGHS.
Three deaths from dengue have been officially reported so far. But unofficial sources say at least five people died of the fatal disease this year.
A total of 1,470 dengue patients were hospitalised around the country until July 23 this year.
