BNP jokes with people: Quader

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Monday alleged that BNP is making pathetic joke with the people over enforcement of lockdown.

“Actually Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is committing pathetic joke with the countrymen. Even they cannot now understand what they are saying,” he said.

Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, said this while addressing a press conference at his secretariat office in the capital.

The minister came up with the remark as BNP alleged that the government is making a ‘tragic mockery’ with the people by imposing lockdown marking ongoing surge of coronavirus infections.

The AL spokesperson said it’s natural for making such reckless comments by the BNP as it cannot perform politics or make remarks by using their conscience and wisdom.

Quader said sometimes the BNP leaders say lockdown is needed and demand its strict enforcement, but few moments later they say shutdown is not a solution and demand compensation.

Once BNP spread propaganda and misleading information against vaccination programme. The party said the people would not abide by curfew, though the government didn’t even think of imposing curfew, Quader said.

BNP is jealous of any development works or success of the government, the minister alleged.

“BNP cannot witness any success or development works that the government did in the public interest. The party is suffering from purposive blindness,” he said.

Quader said many BNP leaders and workers have become inactive due to negative politics and irresponsible attitude of the party.

When BNP was in power, they plunged into irregularities and corruption and now they remain submerged in opportunism staying in the politics of opposition party, he said.

Talking over leaving of an element from the BNP-led alliance, Quader said BNP’s stubbornness and evil strategy compelled its components to quit from the alliance.

“Now the BNP allies are disclosing BNP’s evil political game on capitalizing on people’s religious faith and belief,” he said.

Describing BNP as a “completely failed” opposition party, the minister said BNP is now trying to cheer up their workers by making different comments to hide their failures.

BNP is now spreading hatred continuously against the government, but they have no works for the well-being of the people, he said, adding that actually BNP is doing the only thing constantly, and it’s making blind criticism of the government.

Now the people don’t pay any heed to such reckless comments of BNP, Quader said.
