Swadhinata KS emerge as BCL champions

Swadhinata Krira Sangha emerged as champions in the Bangladesh Championship League 2020-21 after playing a goalless draw against Agrani Bank Ltd in their last match at the Bir Sherestha Shaheed Sepoy Mostafa Kamal in Kamalapur on Sunday.

Swadhinata KS got the promotion to the next season of Bangladesh Premier League football. According to the new BFF bylaws, only the BCL champions will get promotion to the BPL football this year. 

However, Swadhinata KS just needed to play a draw in the day’s match to lift the title. After the day’s feat, the club earned a total of 45 points from 13 wins, 6 draws and 3 defeats while their nearest opponents Fortis Football Club Limited earned 43 points from 12 wins, 7 draws and 3 defeats.

Two teams Dhaka City Football Club and Victoria Sporting Club relegated to the first division league. Dhaka City earned 18 points from 3 wins, 9 draws and 9 defeats while Victoria earned only 4 points from 4 draws and 18 defeats. A total of 12 clubs took part in the league.
