3m more doses of Moderna vaccine arrive today

A total of 3 million doses of Moderna vaccine are scheduled to arrive from the United States at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Monday evening.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque will receive the vaccine at the airport at 7:20pm. Bangladesh will receive the vaccines from the United States under COVAX facilities. The country received 2 million more doses of Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine on Saturday night.

The consignment of one million vaccines arrived at 11:45pm on Saturday while another consignment of one million vaccines at 3:00am on Sunday at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

Syed Mujibul Haque, additional secretary of Directorate general of Health Service (DGHS), and Dr Shamsul Haque, director of EPI, among other officials, received the vaccines at the airport.

With these, the country has received a total of 4 million Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccines purchased by the government from China.

Earlier, a total of 2 million vaccine doses arrived on July 2-3 as per contract.

Bangladesh has purchased 15 million doses of vaccine from Sinopharm which is expected to arrive in the country within three months.
