Bangladesh Bank instructed the commercial banks to keep open their branches or sub branches adjacent to the cattle markets in Dhaka during Eid-ul-Azha.
The scheduled banks will conduct operations including fake note detection services at the cattle markets.“Banks have to arrange a secured environment for sending farmers’ their hard-earned money to desired accounts from the cattle market areas,” the central bank said.
“During Eid-ul-Azha, the highest numbers of farmers and seasonal cattle traders have gathered in the capital city from different parts of the country. They earned a big volume of money by selling sacrificial animals in the cattle markets,” it said.
The central bank asked the banks to open the branches and sub-branches adjacent to cattle markets from 6 pm to 8 pm on July 19 (Monday) under special arrangement.
On July 20 (Tuesday), the banks’ branches will remain operate banking as usual from 10 am to 8 pm on special arrangement. Besides, the banks can set up temporary collection booth as per need with arrangement of necessary security and health sanitizing measures to protect people from coronavirus.
The Banking Regulations and Policy Department of the BB also asked the banks to pay special allowance to the staff for their additional duties.
