A team of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) visited Hashem Foods and Beverage factory, where a devastating fire killed 52 workers recently, at Rupganj in Narayanganj on Saturday.

They collected important evidence to unravel the mystery of the fire incident and find the persons responsible.

Additional DIG of the CID Imam Hossain led the team, which went to the spot after the department was entrusted with the case filed in connection with the devastating fire.

On July 8, an inferno ripped through the foods and beverage factory, killing at least 52 workers and injuring 50 others.

While talking to reporters after visiting the spot, Imam Hossian said the incident might have happened due to three to four reasons, but he didn’t disclose the reasons.

They will go forward with the possible reasons, he said, adding, “The CID will also see if the utility service providers had any faults. If their faults are found, they will be brought to book,” he said.

The officer said, “We have launched investigation with collection of huge important evidence and information. The investigation officers will work in the field level. They were given a 10-point directive on the investigation.”

The officer hoped the investigation will conclude soon as per directive of home minister and inspector general of police.

He urged those who have videos of the incident to give the footage to the CID for the sake of the investigation.
