Tk 30m toll collected from Bangabandhu Bridge in 24hrs

Authorities of Bangabandhu Bridge over the Jamuna River have collected around Tk 30 million from 34,000 vehicles from the both toll plazas of the bridge in the last 24 hours till Saturday morning.

Ahsanul Kabir Pavel, executive engineer of the Bangladesh Bridge Authority’s Bangabandhu Bridge site office, said a record number of transports had crossed the bridge in the last 24 hours.

Toll collection may increase further in the next 24 hours as the number of transport is rising on the road gradually, he expected.

According to the bridge authorities, 33,912 vehicles including buses, trucks, private cars and other vehicles have crossed the bridge in the last 24 hours.

The toll collection of the bridge stood at about Tk29.8 million. Of the amount, the toll plaza at east side of the bridge collected Tk14.6 million from 17513 vehicles and the toll office at west end collected around Tk15.2 million from 16399 vehicles during that period.
