500 families get PM’s cash aid in Rangpur

RANGPUR: A total of 500 jobless families of Chandanpat union in Sadar upazila of the district received cash of Taka 500 each as humanitarian assistance from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday.

Chairman of Chandanpat union Amenur Rahman distributed the money at a function arranged on the union parishad premises strictly abiding by the health directives in the wake of the corona pandemic.

Members of the union parishad and other officials concerned attended the function. Under the programme, 500 jobless families of all nine wards of the union received a total of Taka 2.50 lakh with Taka 500 each.

The cash assistance was distributed among the jobless, poor and helpless families to help them tackle the present pandemic situation during the countrywide lockdown imposed by the government. 

On the occasion, Amenur Rahman also distributed face masks among 500 jobless people of the union.

He urged to all regularly wash hands, use face masks and abide by the health directives to prevent community transmission of the lethal virus. 

“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has stood beside jobless and helpless people with humanitarian assistance during the pandemic situation,” he said, adding that needy people of all unions across the district received the assistance.
