The killers of youth Abdullah Al Farhad alias Rifat were identified six years after police recovered his headless body from a water body at Banipur in Sadar South of Cumilla.

Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) of Cumilla identified the killers after arresting their accomplice Shahjalal, 28, from Chowara of the district on Tuesday.

But the killers -- Nasir Uddin and Mohammad Rana -- are still at large. They killed Rifat, 20, to take away his motorcycle. They cut off his head from his body and dumped the parts at separate places.

Mizanur Rahman, superintendent of police of the Cumilla PBI, revealed the matter to the Daily Sun on Thursday.

He said that Shahjalal was not involved in the murder, but he was aware about it, but did not disclose it to police or anybody. His mother Josna Begum filed a murder case against unknown persons with Cumilla Sadar South Police Station on March 9, 2015 after the body was discovered on that day.

The officer said that a police officer of Cumilla Sadar South Police Station  and the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) investigated the case for a long time, but could not identify the killers and solved the mystery.

He said that Nasir Uddin and Mohammad Rana, who are the friends of Shahjalal, came to his house on a motorcycle about six years ago. They gave the motorbike to him and requested him to hand it over to a certain Jamal. When he asked them how they got the motorcycle, they told him that they had killed Rifat and took away his motorcycle.

As per their request, Shahjalal gave the motorcycle to Jamal to whom the killers sold it.

SP Mizanur Rahman said it had been a complete clueless murder. They suspected that Shahjalal was aware about the murder.

After arrest, he disclosed the fact, the officer said, adding that they were trying to arrest the killers.
