Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Director General Chowdhury Abdullah Al- Mamun on Thursday said that they were investigating the employment of children at Hashem Foods and Beverage factory in Rupganj of Narayanganj.

“We’ve heard that children worked in the factory. We are looking into it. Three probe committees of three government bodies are also investigating it,” he told reporters after distributing relief items among the family members of the dead and the injured who worked at Hashem Foods and Beverage factory.

The RAB-11 arranged the programme on the playground of Bhulta School and College in Rupganj on Thursday.

The RAB DG urged the probe bodies to come up with their findings soon.

The force distributed relief materials among 500 family members of the dead and injured workers.

The chief of the RAB force said they were helping them so they could observe the Eid-ul-Azha like others. Senior officers of the elite force were present on the occasion.

A devastating fire that tore through a six-storey building housing the juice factory of Hashem Foods Ltd, a sister concern of the Sajeeb Group, in Rupganj killed at least 52 workers, mostly women and children, and injured more than 50 others on July 8.
