A total of 57 pairs of intercity and mail trains will run across the country per day from July 15 as the government has decided to lift strict lockdown from the day for Eid-ul-Azha celebration.

The Cabinet Division said the ongoing restrictions have been relaxed from July 15 to July 23.

However, at this time people have to remain careful and follow all the health guidelines including wearing a mask.

Sources at the railway said the sale of online tickets began at 5pm on Tuesday. From July 15, 36 pairs of intercity and 19 pairs of mail trains will be operated. After Eid-ul-Azha celebrations, strict restrictions will be imposed again from July 23 to August 5 when train services will be suspended.

The government has been imposing restrictions since April 5 this year in different phases to break the chain of coronavirus transmission. Apart from this, the local administration also issued special restrictions in various areas.

But, as the coronavirus pandemic situation didn’t improve, strict restrictions were imposed across the country from July 1.
