Banking hours extended ahead of Eid

Bangladesh Bank (BB) has extended banking hours for three days from 10 am to 4 pm start from July 15, 18 and 19 for general customers to keep smooth financial transactions ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.

 Besides, banks will be opened from 10 am to 3.30 pm on July 17 and 20 at industrial areas including Dhaka City, Ashulia, Tongi, Gazipur, Savar, Bhaluka, Narayanganj and Chattogram to pay salaries, bonus and allowances of the workers.

The central bank has issued a circular in this regard on Tuesday. The central bank also said banking operation will be happen from 10am to 3pm from July 25 to august 5 except the government holidays in limited scale considering Covid-19 pandemic situation. Banks have to ensure wearing face mask, hand sanitizer and other health awareness measures in the bank branches to curb the infection of Coronavirus in bank branches during this time.

 The BB instruction also asked banks to keep adequate banknotes at ATM booths with ensuring health protection and sanitization measures. In addition BB asked to ensure uninterrupted internet banking service with adequate support services. From July 25, the bank branches / sub-branches / booths of the bank located in the sea / land / airports and customs house area has to be kept open to ensure compliance of health rules in consultation with the local administration and port / customs authorities.
