The government has directed to suspend the issuance of on-arrival visas to citizens of all countries in Bangladesh except foreign investors and traders.
A letter from the Home Ministry signed by its Exit-5 branch’s Deputy Secretary Tarafdar Mahmudur Rahman has been sent to the Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism and the Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB).
A letter sent to the Secretary of the civil aviation and tourism ministry and the Chairman of CAAB on Thursday said that due to the coronavirus situation, the Security Services Division on June 16 instructed to suspend the issuance of on-arrival visas in Bangladesh for citizens of all countries except foreign investors and businessmen. Recently, it has been seen that many people are facing an embarrassing situation after landing at Shahjalal International Airport. Despite applying for visa, they are not getting it as the issuance of on arrival visa has been suspended as per the existing policy. In such situation, many were forced to return from the airport.
Under the circumstances, the Security Services Division has directed to immediately inform all the organisations concerned and airlines about the suspension of the issuance of arrival visas from June 16.
