Bangladesh’s ODI pacer Rubel Hossain and uncapped T20 all-rounder Shamim Hossain failed to travel to Zimbabwe with their respective squad due to visa problems.

Bangladesh Cricket Board cricket operation chairman Akram Khan, however, was hopeful that they would be able to travel to Zimbabwe and would take part in the limited-over series.

“Rubel and Shamim could not join their teammates due to visa complications but we are confident that we can send them soon and they will be available for the upcoming ODI and T20I series against Zimbabwe,” Akram told The Daily Sun on Friday.

The remaining members of the T20 squad members - Soumya Sarkar, Nasum Ahmed, Mahedi Hasan and Aminul Islam also left Dhaka on Friday.

The ODI players – Mohammad Naim, Mosaddek Hossain, Mohammad Mithun, Afif Hossain, Mohammad Saifuddin and Mustafuzur Rahman, who earlier left Dhaka on Thursday, already reached Zimbabwe and BCB officials confirmed that all of them tested corona negative upon their arrival.

Bangladesh are currently facing hosts Zimbabwe in the one-off Test series with their majority number of players for limited-over series, taking part in the match.  The three-match ODI series will start on July 16 while the three-match T20I series will get underway on July 23.
