DSCC ward councillor Jinnat Ali no more

Jinnat Ali, councillor of ward 22 of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and joint general secretary of Hazaribagh Thana Awami League, passed away on Sunday while undergoing treatment at BRB hospital in the capital. He was 55.

He was admitted to the hospital with kidney related complications on Saturday. Jinnat Ali was also suffering from various diseases, including liver cirrhosis and diabetes.

He is survived by his wife, two daughters and admirers and well wishers.

DSCC Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh has expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Jinnat Ali.

In a message of condolence, he said, “Politically active Jinnat Ali was trying to turn the DSCC into a trusted address for the people of Dhaka. In his death, I lost a reliable comrade.”

To mourn the death of ward councilor, Sunday was declared general holiday for all the offices under Dhaka South City Corporation.

Jinnat Ali was buried on the day at Azimpur graveyard following his namaz-e-janaza after Zuhr prayer.
