Wedding organisers fined Tk 10,000

THAKURGAON: A mobile court on Friday fined the organisers of a wedding ceremony Tk 10,000 in Sadar upazila of the district for defying the lockdown restrictions.

Two families of Dakkhin Batina Baniapara village organised the wedding of their son and daughter.

Acting on a tip-off, a mobile court led by Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun went there and fined two families Tk 5,000 each.

Bangladesh has enforced a seven-day countrywide stricter lockdown, with effect from July 1, amid a surge in Covid-19 cases.

As per the government directives, all kinds of public gatherings, including social programmes, birthday and picnic parties, political and religious events will remain suspended until further notice.
