Two killed in clash over land dispute in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI: Two people were killed and 15 others injured on Wednesday in a clash between two rival groups over a land dispute in Daspukur area in Rajshahi, police and hospital sources said.

The deceased were identified as Shafiqul Islam, 50, son of Sajdar Ali and Zainal Abedin, 45, son of Gias Uddin.

According to sources, the clash erupted over a long standing feud between rival supporters of two local leaders of two major political parties—Awami league and BNP.

The injured were admitted to Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital (RMCH) and condition of five injured were stated to be critical, reported our local correspondent citing RMCH sources.

Rajpara Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mazharul Islam confirmed the incident.

Additional forces have been deployed to prevent further clashes, he said.
