T Sports opens new prospect for domestic broadcasting

Bangladesh Cricket Board president Nazmul Hassan Papon said that they are eyeing to telecast all their upcoming domestic matches live and hinted at a long-term deal with the interested TV channels.

“We were determined last year that we would telecast the super league matches live. Even though we had decided it last year to telecast the matches live, still we needed an interested channel to telecast the matches,” Nazmul told reporters during a recent interview.

“So we finally decided to telecast the matches on two TV channels, T Sports and Gazi TV and I’d like to thank them. They had informed me that they were shocked to see the huge amount of spectators watching the game and making comments on their pages. So I’d pick this as an achievement in this year’s Dhaka Premier League.

“So what I’m trying to say is we are getting new talents from these competitions because of the live telecasting and I hope to telecast every domestic match from now on live. Even if we need to go a long-term contract to a certain television channel, we’d try our best to ensure that,” he added.

T Sports, the first sports channel of Bangladesh, was in charge of the broadcast of the recently-concluded Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division T20 Cricket League as they successfully aired all 15 Super League matches as well as one crucial Relegation League match live.

T Sports used a total of 18 cameras including drone during the tournament and their production was highly praised among cricket enthusiasts of the country.

T Sports, a sister concern of the country’s leading business conglomerate Bashundhara Group’s East West Media Group Limited, began their journey in November 2020 and they have been airing different sports live with their own broadcast crew since their inception.

Gazi TV took the live feed from T Sports and also telecast DPL second phase matches but it was T Sports, who had the sole responsibility to deliver the best possible product to the millions of viewers which they did in a very professional way.

A T Sports official also insisted that if they were given the chance to telecast other domestic tournaments in future they would proudly like to go for it.

Meanwhile, BCB boss also informed that they are trying to have their own channel which will only air cricket matches live and he believed that it will increase the quality of players as well as sorting other domestic cricket problems.

“We are even considering owning a certain channel from BCB (Bangladesh Cricket Board) which will only telecast these cricket matches. If we can telecast all of our domestic games from NCL (National Cricket League) to all the longer version games live then I’m sure the quality of our players will increase,” he said.

“It will also develop the quality of the umpiring, as well. That is what I believe because everyone will be watching it then,” he added.
