Driver, aide killed in Cumilla road crash

CUMILLA: Two were killed and five others were severely injured as a bus fell into a roadside ditch on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Chandina of the district on early Monday.

The identities of the deceased and injured persons could not be known immediately.

Elliot Ganj Highway Police Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Ali said the accident occurred near Chandina Palaki Cinema Hall area around 5.30 am, when a bus of CDM Paribahan fell into a roadside ditch as its driver lost control over the steering, leaving the bus driver and his helper dead on the spot and injuring others.

The wounded were taken to Chandina Upazila Health Complex for treatment in critical condition, the ASI said.

“The bodies have been kept in the morgue,” he said, adding that police are trying to find out the identities of the deceased.
