Youth killed over past enmity

A 27-year-old man was allegedly killed over an past  enmity at Bepari Para in the Double Mooring area of the port city on Friday night.

 The deceased was identified as Mohammad Hares, son of Rafiqul Islam of Akhaura in Brahmanbaria district, reports UNB.

Quoting local people, Mohammad Mahsin, officer-in-charge of Double Mooring Police Station, said that Hares worked at a fish market in the city’s Agrabad area.

 “Hares had an old enmity with a man named Jashim. On Friday night, the accused slit the throat of Hares. He was immediately rushed to Chattogram Medical College and Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival,” the OC said.

However, local people caught Jashim and thrashed him before handing him over to the police. “He has been arrested,” the OC said.
