Members of Detective Branch (DB) have seized a Phensedyl-like drug named ‘Eskuf’ for the first time.

A team of Tejgaon Division of the DB arrested four drug dealers with 184 bottles of Eskuf and 200 kilograms of marijuana (Ganja) from Khilgaon in the capital on Friday evening.

Harun-Ar-Rashid, joint commissioner (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), disclosed the fact at a press briefing at the DMP media centre on Saturday.

The arrestees were Mohammad Jewel, Mohammad Humayun, Mohammad Sadek and Mohammad Liton.

The DB joint commissioner said the drug dealers have changed their trading pattern.

“The arrested drug traders were supplying Eskuf and Ganja in the guise of vegetable traders in the city. They were carrying the drug items in a pickup van,” he said. Harun-Ar-Rashid said they recovered codeine phosphate syrup Eskuf for the first time in the country.

The arrestees and their cohorts used to collect the drugs from Brahmanbaria and sold them in Dhaka, said the officer.

A case was filed against them with Khilgaon Police Station in this regard.
