2,855 homeless families get houses in 3 dists

A total of 2,855 landless and homeless families in 23 upazilas of Mymensingh, Faridpur and Panchagarh district have got their new houses as a gift from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The premier inaugurated the distribution of tin-shed pucca houses on two decimals of land free of cost under the second phase of the Asrayan-2 project through a videoconference joining from Ganabhaban, her official residence, in the capital on Monday morning.

In Mymensingh, a total of 645 landless and homeless families of 13 upazilas have got their new houses.

State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid handed over the documents regarding the ownership of the houses and other papers to 50 families at a function at Shahid Hazrat Ali auditorium of Muktagachha upazila parishad in the morning after inaugurating the countrywide programme.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Abdullah AL Mansur, chairman of the upazila parishad (in-charge) Alhaj Arab Ali, vice chairman Kakali Begum and senior vice president of the upazila Awami League Azizul Haque, among others, were present.

Deputy Commissioner Md Enamul Haque also handed over the documents regarding the ownership of the houses and other papers to 75 landless and homeless families at a function at Sadar upazila parishad auditorium this morning.

In Faridpur, A total of 1,572 more landless and homeless families of nine upazilas in the district have got their new houses on Monday.

Faridpur Deputy Commission Atul Sarker handed over the documents of the land ownership and keys of houses to the beneficiaries in a meeting at Sadar upazila auditorium under the second phase of the Asrayan Project -2.

Of the total beneficiary families, 153 are in Sadar upazila ,370 in Sadarpur, 200 in Saltha , 40 in Modhukhali,  230 in Alfadanga, 130 in Boalmari,110 in Nagarkanda, ,200 in Charvodrason and 139  in Bhanga upazila. Beside this, Swapna Nagar has been established in Alfadanga upazila for houseless and homeless families.

In Panchagarh, a total of 638 landless and homeless families in all 10 unions of Debiganj  upazila in the district have got their new houses on Monday.

Upazila Chairman Abdul Malek Chistee and Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Debiganj  Prottoy Hasan jointly handed over the documents  regarding the ownership of the houses and other papers to 56 homeless and landless families at a function at upazila Parishad (UP) hall room.

After getting the houses, all beneficiaries were so happy and expressed their gratitude to the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for giving them the new pucca houses built on two decimals of land. They also prayed to the Almighty Allah for the Prime Minister’s long life and sound health.

Upazila Project Implemented Officer (PIO) Abdul Momin, female vice-chairman Ritu Akter and 56 beneficiaries attended the programme and witnessed the houses handing ceremony by the Premier through a large screen.

Besides, all union parishads arranged the programme and handed over the documents regarding the ownership of the houses and other papers to the enlisted homeless and landless families.
