Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni stressed the need for increasing online education as the students can make up their losses due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Training for teachers is very important to ensure quality higher education and the training will be more important to carry out online education,” she said.She said, “Although, the educational institutions are remaining closed amid the pandemic, our online education is still going on. It needs to be strengthened as the students able to make up their learning losses.”
Dipu Moni came up with the remarks while addressing an event titled “Online subject based teacher training review and evaluation” arranged by National University (NU) on Monday.
Appreciating NU’s various steps to continue education programme using online platforms amid the pandemic, Education Minister also said it is good steps that the NU is carrying out online education and arranging online training programme for its teachers. Addressing at the event, University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Prof Kazi Shahidullah said it is necessary to ensure the appointment of quality teachers first to ensure quality education.
“The influence on teacher recruitment needs to be stopped. If “Man behind the machine” is not good, the quality of education will not be good,” he said.
Education Ministry Secondary and higher education division Secretary Mahbub Hossain also spoke among others with NU Vice-Chancellor Prof Mashiur Rahman in the chair.
