foodpanda has onboarded the first batch of transgender riders, and has equipped them with  bicycles and smartphones.

This initiative was made possible thanks to support from TransEnd, an organisation dedicated to empowering members of the Bangladeshi transgender community, said a press release.

As part of this initiative, foodpanda has trained the riders for several weeks and has furnished them with proper delivery gear so that they can work proudly and independently as foodpanda riders.

Initially, 20 riders have been onboarded in Chattogram and Dhaka. Additionally, several other members of the transgender community have already been working as warehouse staff in foodpanda’s pandamart dark stores.

As an organization, foodpanda looks beyond just business, and instead explores social outreach opportunities in an effort to contribute to the greater good of the society.

TransEnd has facilitated the process and supported foodpanda in hiring and training the riders.

A small ceremony was held at foodpanda hub office in Chattogram recently.
