Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni on Saturday said the government would establish a public university in each district to reach higher education on the doorsteps of people.
“We are committed to establish one university in every district aiming at reaching the higher education at the doorsteps,” she said while virtually addressing the 4th convocation programme of Green University of Bangladesh.
The minister said the government understands the importance of education and thoroughly emphasizes education for all.
Prof Dr Mesbah Uddin Ahmed, Chairman of Bangladesh Accreditation Council-BAC was present as the Convocation Speaker.
Deputy Education Minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury and University Grants Commission member Prof Dr Muhammed Alamgir, Board of Trustee chairman Mohammed Abdullah Al-Mamun, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Razzaque and treasurer Prof. Dr. Md. Fayzur Rahman also spoke at the programme with its Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Golam Samdani Fakir in the chair.
Some 1,464 graduates received degrees in this convocation. Six students received Chancellor’s Gold Medal and thirteen were awarded Vice-Chancellor’s Gold Medal, said a press release.
