2 shot, 6 hurt in Narsingdi AL infighting

NARSINGDI: At least eight people were injured in a clash between two groups of Awami League (AL) activists in Madhabdi municipality area of the district on Wednesday night.

Among the injured Md Zakaria, 42, former president of Sadar Thana Chhatra League and former commissioner of Madhabdi municipality; and Abul Kalam, 38, secretary of Nuralapur union unit of Swechhasebak League sustained bullet injuries.

Locals said that an executive committee meeting was being held at Madhabdi’s Romoni Community Centre to form union and ward level committee to mark the 72nd founding anniversary of Awami League.

The clash ensued flowing an argument was arisen from not inviting the local municipality mayor at the meeting.

Madhabdi Police Station Officer-in-Charge Syeduzzaman said, bullet-hit Md Zakaria and Abul Kalam were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) after primary treatment.
