63 more die, 3,840 cases detected

The daily fatality rate in coronavirus infection increased further as 63 more Covid-19 patients died and 3,840 new infection cases were detected in the last 24 hours till Thursday morning.

The number of death from the coronavirus in the past 24 hours is the highest daily count since May 4 while the number of coronavirus infection cases was the biggest single-day jump since Apr 22.

According to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), total number of deaths from the deadly pathogen has reached 13,345 with 63 new deaths. The total death rate has stood at 1.59 percent.

Some 3,840 infection cases were reported in the last 24 hours till Thursday morning, raising the total number to 8,41,087. The daily infection rate has been reported as 15.44 percent in the last 24 hours.

Some 2,714 more patients have recovered from the fatal disease in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of recovery to 7,76,466 in the country till the day. The recovery rate has stood 92.32 percent.

The DGHS said 13.42 percent of the samples have been diagnosed with coronavirus till the date while 15.44 percent samples have been diagnosed with the fatal disease in a day.

A total of 24,871 samples, out of 25,771 collected, were tested at 528 labs in the country during the period, the report added.

A total of 62,67,657 samples have been tested so far to detect coronavirus infection across the country.

The first case of Covid-19 was detected on March 8 last year while the first death was recorded on March 18 the same year in the country.
