Bangladesh Rural Development Board (BRDB) on Monday began disbursement of soft loan among small rural entrepreneurs under the stimulus package to help them tackle the challenges of coronavirus pandemic.
The government has allocated Tk 3 billion to the state-run organisation to support the rural economy which was badly affected by the pandemic.LGRD State Minister Swapan Bhattacharjee inaugurated the loan disbursement programme at BRDB Headquarters in capital’s Karwan Bazar.
The state minster expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for such stimulus package.
He said they would give priority to women entrepreneurs in the village while disbursing the loan.
Speaking on the occasion, BRDB Director General Supriya Kumar Kundu said the organisation have received Tk 3 billion under the package.
“We’ll hand out the money among small entrepreneurs with only 4 percent interest,” he said.
According to the official, Tk 202.1 million has already been given out among 799 small entrepreneurs of 28 upazilas under greater Faridpur.
