State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid on Friday said installing prepaid meters will contribute to ensure the economical use of electricity and gas.
He said, “Prepaid meters would make an effective contribution to the economical use of electricity and gas.”He made the statement addressing a webinar titled “Prosperous Bangladesh, Uninterrupted Power and Energy Security Budget” organized by CRI albd web Team, said a press release.
“Besides, we need to take far-reaching plans for the use of domestic energy,” he added.
Mentioning that necessary efforts are being taken to strengthen State-run Bangladesh Petroleum Exploration and Production Company Ltd (BAPEX), the state minister said incentives are continuing for power generation from renewable energy sources.
“Renewable energy could be one of the main sources of power generation in the future. Wind power, ocean renewable energy, electricity from waste and solar power will make a huge contribution to the energy mix in future”, he added.
With a view to making a prosperous Bangladesh in 2041, initiatives are underway to add Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA), smart grid, smart prepaid meter, underground cable system, underground substation and GI transformer in power system and management, he said.
He also mentioned that the power and energy sector is preparing to face the fourth industrial revolution by integrating the Internet of Things (IoT) with ‘Big Data’.Power Cell Director General Mohammad Hossain delivered the key note speech on the occasion.
