A meeting of the Awami League Parliamentary Board (ALPB) will be held today to pick candidates of Dhaka-14, Sylhet-3 and Cumilla-5 by-polls.

The meeting will begin at 11:00am with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair at her official residence Ganabhaban in the capital.

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, also member secretary of the ALPB, urged all to attend the meeting on time with maintaining health guidelines.

Earlier, some 94 aspirants from these three constituencies have collected nomination forms from 7-day sale of nomination forms from June 4 to June 10 amid the ongoing wave of coronavirus pandemic.

Earlier, the Election Commission on June 2 set election date for holding by-elections to three parliamentary constituencies on July 14. Later, the EC rescheduled the election date to July 28 as per the advices of national technical committees on coronavirus.

Dhaka-14, Sylhet-3 and Cumilla-5 constituencies fell vacant following the deaths of AL lawmaker Aslamul Haque on April 4, Mahmud Us Samad Chowdhury on March 11 and party presidium member Abdul Matin Khasru on April 14, respectively.
