Corona death toll crosses 13,000-mark

The number of deaths from coronavirus has crossed 13,000-mark in the country as 43 more people died of the deadly virus in the last 24 hours on Friday.

The government reported 43 new deaths from the virus in the last 24 hours till Friday morning, taking the death toll to 13,032.

Among the 43 deceased, 30 were men and 13 were women. Of them, one was between 21-30 years old; two were between 31-40 years old; four between 41-50; 11 between 51-60; and 24 were above 60 years, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

At least 2,454 new infections were recorded during the 24-hour period, taking the total number of coronavirus cases to 8,22,849 in the country.

As many as 18,535 samples were tested across the country, yielding a positivity rate of 13.24 percent.

The latest official figures put the recovery rate at 92.59 percent while the mortality rate stands at 1.58 percent.

The current positivity rate is 13.24 percent and the total positivity rate is 13.39 percent. At least 2,286 Covid-19 patients recovered in the last 24 hours.

The total number of recoveries now stands at 7,61,916 and the recovery rate stands at 92.59 percent.
