Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Thursday termed the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) as a visible enemy and Covid-19 as an invisible enemy.
“BNP is a visible enemy while coronavirus is an invisible enemy in the country,” he said.
Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, made the remark while addressing a press briefing virtually from his official residence on parliament premises in the capital.
The minister said BNP is actually a patron of communal evil forces although it utters word of democracy.
“Their negative and conspiracy oriented politics is more dangerous than the invisible enemy Covid-19,” he said.
The AL spokesperson said there would be political opponents and rivals but it is not right to think of any party as an enemy.
“The responsible opposition is a partner of development but the BNP itself has shown its ugly face,” he said.
Quader also alleged that BNP was involved in August 21 grenade attack as it considered Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as their enemy.
“BNP has been the beneficiary of August 15, 1975 carnage and it was involved in hatching conspiracy as it considered Awami League as enemy,” he said.
Mentioning that BNP burnt innocent people to death and destroyed public property, Quader alleged that the BNP had involved in looting money and graft.
“BNP stays away from the election as it has fear of public,” he said.
