2 more give confessional statements

A Dhaka Court on Wednesday recorded the confessional statement of two more accused in a case filed on charges of trafficking Bangladeshi girls to India.

Metropolitan Magistrate Debabrata Biswas recorded the statements after police produced the two accused -- Mehdi Hasan Babu and Mohiuddin -- before the court.

Police inspector M Mohiuddin Faruk of Hatirjheel Police Station, also the investigation officer of the case, produced them before the court with a plea to record their statements.

The court also sent another accused named Abdul Kader to jail on completion of a five-day remand in the case.

Earlier on Tuesday, two accused, including ringleader Ashraful Islam alias Ashraful Mondal alias Boss Rafi, and his associate Abdur Rahman Sheikh gave confessional statement in the case.

The court on Tuesday also sent two others accused -- Sahida Begum alias Madam Sahida and Ismail Sarder -- to jail on completion of a five-day remand in the case.

Nine people have been arrested in this connection so far.

After arrest, all the accused were placed on a five-day remand each in the case filed with Hatirjheel Police Station.
